-
and much more.

3 Misconceptions about Intuition

Multiple Types of Intuition
Ongoing theoretical research has yielded fascinating scientific information illuminating the multiple types and forms of intuition as well as ways to measure them. Take a look at the variety to see if you are using any of them in your daily life.
01
Social Intuition:
Based on a sense of interpersonal relationships
02
Affective Intuition**:
Based on feelings and emotions.
03
Inferential Intuition**:
Based on analytical processes that have become automatic
04
Temporal Intuition: Based on a sense of the right timing to create or capture an opportunity
05
Intuitive insight is an explicit awareness of novel relations between concepts that arrive with apparent suddenness and little conscious awareness of processing. (University of Cambridge)
06
Creative Intuition: Based on a sense of direction for a new solution
07
Holistic Intuition**:
Integrates different sources of information in a non-analytical way
08
Analytical Intuition:
Involves a lot of research and data gathering before making a decision
09
Intuitive judgment: the ability to make decisions quickly and instinctively without a conscious effort.
10
Medical Intuition: the ability to receive knowledge on physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing in living things.
** The Types of Intuition Scale (TintS) measures these types of intuition. Another measurement tool is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) 1998, based on Jungian theory. Other measurements include the REI, the Rational Experiential Inventory based on Epstein's dual process theory, the Perceived Modes of Processing Inventory (Burns and D'Zurilla), and the Intuitive Behavior questionnaire (Raidl and Lubart).

“The intuitive mind is a sacred gift, and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.”— Albert Einstein
“All great achievements of science must start from intuitive knowledge,” Einstein once told a friend, according to Psychology Today. “At times, I feel certain I am right while not knowing the reason.”
For Einstein, insight did not come from logic or mathematics. It came, as it does for artists, from intuition and inspiration. As he told one friend, "When I examine myself and my methods of thought, I come close to the conclusion that the gift of imagination has meant more to me than any talent for absorbing absolute knowledge." Excerpt from Einstein On Creative Thinking: Music and the Intuitive Art of Scientific Imagination
What are the differences between instinct, logic, intuition, and psychic abilities?

Any differences between being intuitive or being psychic
Instinct
These behaviors are genetically hardwired to help us stay safe, cope, react, and behave within our environment. They include sociability, sympathy, fear, anger, jealousy, curiosity, affection, sexual love, and constructiveness to name a few.
Logic
Logic is a rational system of principles that uses reason to conclude. It analyzes ideas, arguments, and concepts without emotions, feelings, belief systems, or any mysticism.
Logic helps us identify patterns in life, make better decisions, and solve complex problems. Think of areas of study that use logic, mathematics, computer science, and programming.

Intuition
Intuition is that gut feeling, a hunch, or a notion that seems to appear automatically, bypassing any logical or analytical reasoning.
Psychic Abilities
Psychic abilities are not different from intuition except for honing in, developing, and refining your intuitive skills with practice and purpose.
Many believe that only a few can become more intuitively psychic, which is far from the truth.
Everything that we do takes practice, persistence, and patience. Yes, of course, some are gifted naturally at an early age; some also were gifted and discouraged, and others have to develop and rediscover their intuitive abilities through conscious intent.

So are you psychic, intuitive, or a bit of both?
Being intuitive means listening to positive, loving, and wise messages from your heart and higher self, regardless of whether these messages come through dreams, signs, imagination, music, meditation, or creative visualizations. By being open to the Divine Presence within and paying attention to the promptings of your sacred self, your soul will lead you on the path toward your higher purpose for a joyful, fulfilling life.
Now, that also sounds like being a bit psychic and intuitive!
It is.
In fact, many psychics call themselves intuitive psychics.
So, is there a difference?
Sometimes yes, and sometimes no.
All psychics are intuitive, but not all intuitive people are psychic due only to their lack of developing, honing in, and consciously cultivating their capabilities.
However, as you become more in tune with your spiritual nature, you might also find yourself becoming a bit more psychic.
It is natural to notice synchronicities, informative messages, and more as you tune into your soul's stillness and tune out limiting beliefs, fears, and doubts.
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
~ Steve Jobs at Stanford University commencement address, 2005
